135 Framework
What is the 135 Framework?
135 is simply the first 3 shots played by the server in a rally. Rally length data is vital to measuring player performance, but it’s only valuable if you’re measuring shot sequence.
Traditional rally length data is broken down by ranges like 0-4, which doesn’t provide any context to the individual player, just that it was short, medium or long.
Instead of using traditional rally length data, we use 135 (server’s profile), 246 (returner’s profile), and 7+ (long rally profile).
Examples of 1s, 3s and 5s. The foundation of the 135 framework
Why is the 135 Framework better?
135 emphasizes the value of players forcing errors; forcing patterns of play; forcing shot sequences. Other systems group forced and unforced errors together:
- Hawkeye – only shots that went in the court are counted ie unforced errors and forced errors are not counted.
- Game of Errors – unforced errors and forced errors are grouped together as, simply, errors.
A system of tennis analytics that groups forced errors and unforced errors together, by whichever method, makes improvement difficult because it groups a player’s winning patterns of play with areas that require work. It also distorts rally length data to an extent that makes it almost unusable for player improvement.
135 measures performance with usable data that profiles and benchmarks player performance at the 3 rally lengths – 135, 246 & 7+ – shaping practice, improving win rates, and improving scouting reports by profiling opponents using the same method.
Video examples
Using the “Game of Errors” method, the second point above is a return error.
Using 135, both points are 1 shot.
Hawkeye measures the first rally as 3 shots and the second as 2 shots (because the Tsitsipas forehand was out).
Using 135, both these points are 3 shots and both patterns/sequences are the same.
If you’re not measuring unforced errors (Hawkeye) or the difference between forced and unforced (Game of Errors), you are not measuring individual player performance.

Technology
135 has developed, and owns, all its technology. The 135 App, 135 Analyzer and 135 Cam have all been developed in-house. This results in two advantages:
- Our tech has been built for tennis, not adapted from third party software to use in tennis.
- We are much better able to customize systems to suit players and teams and what each is trying to achieve.
135 App
The 135 App can be used on both iOS and Android devices. It is the only app for recording tennis analytics that allows users to record and measure rally length according to the 135 Framework.
The 135 App provides you with a snapshot of analytics from a particular match. As well as 135 data, it will display momentum, traditional analytics and allows 12 custom analytics, all of which are displayed in a match report sent directly from the app. View match analytics during, or seconds after, a match.
135 Analyzer
The 135 Analyzer is web-based software that works with the 135 App to display results over time. It also allows players and coaches to display a group of match results by any number of filters.
The 135 Analyzer is also where tagged match video can be viewed, either by individual match or a group of matches.
135 Cam
For locations without cameras, the 135 Cam has been developed specifically for tennis and to complement the 135 App and 135 Analyzer. It comes with its own portable mount.

135 Process & Pricing
Process
135 provides ongoing training of your team on how to use and get the most out of the 135 App and 135 Analyzer. We have found the system works best when analytics are recorded live during matches using the 135 App. This means having “team analysts”, usually walk-ons and grad coaches, having this responsibility. Recording analytics this way means:
- Players and coaches have instantaneous feedback, even during matches.
- Turnaround from match completion to being able to view in the 135 Analyzer is super fast. Upload the video and analytics together to the 135 Analyzer for viewing within hours, not days.
- Customize the analytics that you’re recording to your team or individual player requirements.
- Upload analytics without video. For example, during practice matches.
All of the above means more data for your players, which is vital. Don’t pick and choose which matches or players are important enough to record. If you’re measuring performance over time, you need data, not selective data.
Last of all, the 135 process means we become your Analysts. We’re not simply entering data and providing tagged videos. We will be analyzing player data looking for areas that will help players improve, and win.
Pricing
135 is not priced per hour of video. It’s about data, rather than a process of “picking and choosing” which matches should be recorded and which matches don’t need attention. Below pricing includes 1,000 match video uploads and unlimited data uploads (from the 135 App).
1 Team (Men’s OR Women’s) – $14,990US per annum
2 Teams (Men’s AND Women’s) – $19,990US per annum
Cost includes implementation – site visit, presentations to coaches and players, ongoing training – unlimited use of the 135 App, storage outlined above within the 135 Analyzer. Most of all, cost includes us helping you and your players win more matches using our knowledge, expertise and systems. We do not provide “set and forget” tech plans, nor simple tagged matches for you and your players to try and analyze.
